WAIT FOR MY COLOUR – AND MY BODY
Light colour, room colour, symbolic colour, local colour, printing colour, false colour, ghost colour, font colour, natural colour, artistic colour, or body colour—colour has no fixed identity, though it certainly has materiality. It is one of the foundations of our mutual perception, something that must continually be renegotiated, just like everything else.
At the Kunsthalle Appenzell, twenty artists took the temperature of colour through paintings, photographs, sculptures, performances, interventions, and other works, at a time when both the world and its inhabitants seemed to be undergoing a state of increasing heat. Thanks to the artistic contributions—some created specifically for the project—the exhibition became a shimmering metaphor for endless transformation. Within this process, the coordinates and paradigms of reality—whether aesthetic, social, intellectual, spiritual, political, or otherwise—were not only presented from multiple perspectives but also opened up for discussion through the full spectrum of the senses.
