Caline Aoun

3 May – 25 October 2026 / Kunstmuseum / Kunsthalle

The solo exhibition The Threshold of Impermanence by Caline Aoun spans the Kunstmuseum and Kunsthalle Appenzell and explores the conditions under which natural and artificial systems emerge, function, and change. Aoun’s internationally established practice renders invisible processes perceptible and engages with key contemporary issues – ecological fragility, technological integration, and the use of time and resources. The exhibition does not present finished works, but rather states in process that change over time and in response to space, climate, and interaction. In the Kunstmuseum, the focus is on the elemental and the natural – on water, light, heat, and time as forces that precede images and meanings. In the Kunsthalle, the focus shifts to the cultural: to language, image production, and technological systems through which perception, circulation, and meaning are produced. The exhibition responds precisely to the architectural and atmospheric conditions of the Kunstmuseum and the Kunsthalle, and asks how constellations of apparatuses and forms structure perception, influence states, and shape reality.
